  Surgery Complex Manager

Reports to: Chief Clinical & Nursing Officer
Status: Full-time (1.0 FTE), Exempt
Work Schedule: Primarily Monday – Friday, first shift.
Primary Functions: Directs and supervises the staff of his/her assigned areas of responsibility. Maintains accountability for management of assigned area and has ultimate authority and responsibility for the nursing services provided to the patients served. Is accountable for creating a social system which fosters the participation of the nursing staff in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of professional practice to ensure safe, efficient, and therapeutically effective nursing care. This includes all organizational planning, goal setting, and policy development.
Qualifications: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and possess a valid Iowa RN license. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required; Master’s Degree preferred. Must have operating room experience, preferably a minimum of five years. Must have knowledge and strong understanding of Surgical Services. Active involvement in AORN is preferred. Previous management experience HIGHLY preferred. Must possess valid BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications. Must have valid completion of Mandatory Reporter training for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse. Must be able to read, speak, and write fluent English.

Work Schedule: Primarily Monday – Friday, first shift
Primary Functions: Responsible for successfully evaluating the organization’s training needs and developing and directing programs for staff training to support quality and positive patient outcomes. Also collaborates to develop and provide patient and community education in alignment with the organization’s strategic plan.
Qualifications: Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree required. Degree in healthcare or adult education preferred. Must have a minimum of three years education experience. Management experience preferred. Must have demonstrated competence in communication and quality improvement skills. Strong computer skills required, including MS Office programs.   Infection Control/Employee Health Manager

Work Schedule: Primarily Monday – Friday, first shift. Other hours as needed to accommodate staff shift for employee health activities.
Primary Functions: Manage facility’s employee safety and health efforts. Manage workers’ compensation cases. Act as liaison between WHC and Allen Occupational Health Services. Oversee facility infection control efforts. Manage department staff. Lead facility’s safety sub-committee. Participate on various committees, including but not limited to, Management Team, Performance Improvement Council, and Environment of Care & Safety Council.
Qualifications: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Iowa. BSN required by the year 2013. Knowledge of Joint Commission and OSHA regulations required. Experience in developing and administering regulatory-required programs preferred. Knowledge of infection control requirements preferred. Experience in employee health activities such as vaccinations, injury/illness case handling, event follow-up, etc. preferred. Three-five years of management experience preferred. Must possess valid BLS certification. Must have valid completion of Mandatory Reporter training for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse. Must be able to read, speak, and write fluent English.
  Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist

Status: Part-time (0.5 FTE), Non-exempt
Work Schedule: Primarily Monday-Friday, second shift. Weekend and holiday rotation required.
Primary Functions: Responsible for performing and maintaining the general clerical functions of the Laboratory, as well as assisting with the stocking and inventory tracking of general supplies used within the department. Also responsible for organizing and supervising blood collection work area and performing phlebotomies on inpatients, outpatients, and nursing home patients.
Qualifications: Must possess high school diploma or equivalent. Certification in Phlebotomy is preferred. Prior experience in phlebotomy and Laboratory setting is required.
