Prediabetes Patient Education Workshop
Waverly Health Center (WHC) announces the upcoming “Prediabetes Patient Education” workshop on Tuesday, January 6, from 3 to 5 p.m. in Tendrils Rooftop Garden on WHC campus. The workshop is open to anyone who has diabetes in their family or may have been told they have borderline diabetes.
“Prediabetes is a condition in which glucose levels are higher than normal, but not high enough to qualify as type 2 diabetes. Patients with prediabetes are at high risk for developing type 2 diabetes later,” stated Monica Lursen, RD, LD, WHC Diabetes Program Coordinator. “The good news is that the onset of type 2 diabetes can be prevented or delayed.”
The program will be conducted by Monica Lursen and Janine Johnson, RN, WHC Diabetes Nurse Educator.
This program, part of the ongoing diabetes education outreach program offered by WHC, is free and open to the public. Participants should park in the Red Lot and enter through the Tendrils Rooftop Garden event entrance, located south of the Center Pharmacy drive-up.
