	Spotlight on Values - Meet the Winners

	Thank you for your nominations! Please keep nominating employees, physicians and volunteers who you feel are a great example of our values. Each month we take the nominations received and a nomination committee selects one person for each of the values.
	Meet the Monthly Spotlight Winners:


	The winner for COMPASSION is: Shirley Heller.
	"Shirley Heller of Waverly, education, was recognized for the value of compassion. Nominated for her empathetic care of coworkers, Shirley has overcome personal obstacles in the past year. Her ability to reach out to others facing loss to be a listening ear and friend is appreciated."

	The winner for ENTHUSIASM is: Melinda Cagley.
	"Melinda Cagley of Shell Rock, business office, was recognized for the value of enthusiasm. Nominated for her positive attitude, Melinda takes the time to recognize the accomplishments of her coworkers. Her cheerfulness is valued by her department and patients."

	The winner for EXCELLENCE is: Janet McCullough.
	"Janet McCullough of Waverly, pharmacy, was recognized for the value of excellence. Nominated for stepping up to the challenge when a coworker had to be on leave unexpectedly, Janet took on the extra duties without complaint. Her dedication to quality service is a great example and encouragement."

	The winner for INNOVATION is: Connie Yanda.
	"Connie Yanda of Waverly, cardiovascular services, was recognized for the value of innovation. Nominated for her leadership in developing new employee wellness programs, Connie has worked hard to get many new projects started. Her commitment and positive attitude have made a difference at the health center. "

	The winner for INTEGRITY is: Diane Whiteside.
	"Diane Whiteside of Clarksville, medical/surgical, was recognized for the value of integrity. Nominated for her devotion to her patients, Diane leads by quiet example. She consistently demonstrates good character and support for her fellow nurses."


	Meet the Physican Spotlight of the Quarter:
	Dr. Clay Dahlquist Receive - Fourth Quarter 2009 WAVERLY, Iowa - Dr. Clay Dahlquist has received Waverly Health Center’s (WHC) medical staff Spotlight on Values award. Nominated for his compassion, Dr. Dahlquist is an example of WHC values in action. Dr. Dahlquist is recognized by WHC staff and patients for providing a humanizing touch to health care. One nominator wrote, "Dr. Dahlquist sees every patient for what they are: a person, a fellow human, someone's child, parent or spouse." In addition, Dr. Dahlquist is recognized for going above and beyond his duties as a physician. He takes the extra time necessary to make sure every patient need is met while also making sure the patient is cared for emotionally. WHC staff also appreciates his willingness to jump into any situation and lend a helping hand. Dr. Dahlquist specializes in family practice and emergency medicine and began his career in Waverly in 2005. He will be joining the Christophel Clinic at Waverly Health Center this spring in order to provide family medical care to area residents. He received his undergraduate degree from Wartburg College and his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Des Moines University. Waverly Health Center has adopted five values which include compassion, enthusiasm, excellence, innovation and integrity. The Spotlight on Values program recognizes Waverly Health Center employees, volunteers and physicians for demonstrating these values. Patients, visitors and employees are encouraged to submit nominations for the WHC Spotlight on Values honors. Nominations can be submitted on-line at www.WaverlyHealthCenter.org/spotlight.asp or at any Spotlight on Values ballot boxes placed throughout the health center.
