The winner for COMPASSION is:
Connie Parkman

"Connie Parkman of Waverly, emergency, was recognized for the value of compassion. Nominated for her dedication to her patients and their family members, Connie goes the extra mile to provide kindness and assistance at difficult times."
The winner for ENTHUSIASM is:
Marianne Nielsen

"Marianne Nielsen of Greene, medical/surgical, was recognized for the value of enthusiasm. Nominated for her caring approach to patient care, Marianne makes every patient and family feel special. She takes the additional time necessary to provide extras for her patient and does it all with a smile."
The winner for EXCELLENCE is:
Kay Greelee

"Kay Greelee of Waverly, volunteer, was recognized for the value of excellence. Nominated for her devotion to WHC, Kay provides excellent service to the staff and patients in the surgery complex. She goes above and beyond to ensure that all needs are met."
The winner for INNOVATION is:
Shelly Johannsen

"Shelly Johannsen of Cedar Falls, health promotion, was recognized for the value of innovation. Nominated for her ability to challenge her fitness class participants, Shelly brings new techniques and strategies to each of the classes she teaches. Her creativity keeps her participants interested and motivated."

Meet the Physican Spotlight of the Quarter:
Dr. Kerrie Bossard - Third Quarter 2008
WAVERLY, Iowa - Dr. Kerrie Bossard, general surgery clinic, has received Waverly Health Center’s (WHC) medical staff Spotlight on Values award. Nominated by several WHC staff members for her dedication to patients and caring attitude, Dr. Bossard is an example of WHC’s values in action.
Dr. Bossard is recognized at WHC for outstanding patient care. "Dr. Bossard goes out of her way to tend to patient needs," stated one nominator. "She does not question special requests and does what is the best for the patient."
Dr. Bossard’s enthusiasm is also recognized by her co-workers. "Dr. Bossard always has a smile and cheerful greeting when you meet her. I appreciate her friendliness and teamwork," added another nominator.
Dr. Bossard specializes in general surgery. She received her undergraduate degree from Luther College and her medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.
Waverly Health Center has adopted five values which include compassion, enthusiasm, excellence, innovation and integrity. The Spotlight on Values program recognizes Waverly Health Center employees, volunteers and physicians for demonstrating these values. Patients, visitors and employees are encouraged to submit nominations for the WHC Spotlight on Values honors. Nominations can be submitted on-line at www.WaverlyHealthCenter.org/spotlight.asp or at any Spotlight on Values ballot boxes placed throughout the health center.
