Six members of the Waverly Health Center (WHC) team have been named December Spotlight on Values award winners. Nominated by co-workers, patients and members of the community, these individuals are examples of WHC’s values in action.
|Kathy Bartels of Fredericksburg, nutrition therapy, was recognized for the value of compassion. A patient expressed a craving for a cheeseburger, which was not an option on the patient’s menu. Kathy took extra steps and delivered the cheeseburger to the patient. Her nominator continued, “Kathy’s gesture made our patient feel special!”|
|Ann Henninger-Trax of Waverly, volunteer, was recognized for the value of enthusiasm. Ann not only assists the lab with small projects, but she also brings a great attitude into the hospital. Ann’s nominator shared, “That type of positivity is infectious and passes on to our patients.”|
|Stacey Larson of Tripoli, emergency department, was recognized for the value of excellence. Stacey recently made a difference in the life of a patient’s caretaker. Her nominator shared, “I would like to express my appreciation to her for making that night go better than it could have gone. She was so generous and for that I thank her.”|
|Sandy Herman of Waverly, business office, was recognized for the value of innovation. Sandy works with the rest of her teammates in mind. Her nominator shared, “She has created multiple reference sheets for our department so we can serve our patients quickly and effectively.”|
|Stacy Huck of Plainfield, birthing center, was recognized for the value of leadership. During a staff meeting, Stacey led a simulation. Her nominator stated, “Stacy put a lot of time and thought into this project and included the patient’s side of things, the husband’s, providers and direct staff. It was a great experience and helped us identify a few extra ways to improve patient care at WHC.”|
|Kerri VanEe, ACNP, of Waverly, received WHC’s Quarterly Provider Spotlight on Values Award. Kerri was nominated for her involvement in WHC’s transition from it’s own Orthopedic Clinic to Cedar Valley Orthopedics at Waverly Health Center. Her nominator stated, “Kerri has been available to us, at any time, for consultation, advice and assistance. She is a leader in her field of orthopedics and has exemplified leadership, teamwork and true excellence in her practice.”|
WHC has adopted six values which include compassion, enthusiasm, excellence, innovation, integrity and leadership. The Spotlight on Values program recognizes WHC employees, volunteers and physicians for demonstrating these values. Patients, visitors and employees are encouraged to submit nominations for the WHC Spotlight on Values honors. Nominations can be submitted online or at any Spotlight on Values ballot boxes placed throughout the health center.
