WHC’s Employee Awards Day was held on February 8. The event celebrated staff excellence and achievements in 2018. Along with the award presentations, attendees enjoyed lunch and played Music Bingo led by Ultimate Entertainment.
WHC was proud to celebrate 75 special anniversaries in 2018. Employees celebrating 20 years or more include:

Spirit of Volunteerism Award
The Spirit of Volunteerism Award is a way for WHC to support an employee who volunteers in the community. A $250 gift is made in the employee’s name to a non-profit agency of his or her choice. This year’s award winner was Dr. John Ebensberger, emergency department. Dr. Ebensberger was nominated for his involvement in multiple volunteer endeavors including Greene Ambulance Service, Greene Parish Nurse Board and St. Peter Lutheran Church Council, among others.
Excellence in Nursing Award
Danielle Barth, BSN, RN, nursing administration, was named WHC’s 2019 Excellence in Nursing award winner. The Excellence in Nursing award is given to a deserving nurse who has made an impact on the profession of nursing. “Danielle has an amazing ability to care for her patients with high quality skills and empathy,” added her nominator.
It Starts with Me Quality Award
Joni Poppe, BSN, RN, outpatient services, was named WHC’s 2019 It Starts with Me Quality Award winner. The award recognizes an employee who champions safety in their day-to-day work. Her nominator commented, “Joni took ownership of WHC’s Ambulatory Care Sleep Services accreditation from day one. Her overall approach exhibited not only leadership, but innovation as well.”
