Four members of the Waverly Health Center (WHC) team have been named April Spotlight on Values award winners. Nominated by co-workers, patients and members of the community, these individuals are examples of WHC’s values in action.
Sarah Dunleavy of Denver, Center Pharmacy, was recognized for the value of compassion. A patient recently visited the pharmacy for the treatment of Influenza. Knowing the family, Sarah became concerned for the patient’s child, who has a suppressed immune system. Sarah took steps to get the child a prescription as well. Her nominator continued, “Sarah’s extra time and energy potentially saved this patient from a diagnosis of influenza and/or hospitalization.”
Deb Peters of Waverly, business office, was recognized for the value of excellence. A newer member of the WHC team, Deb has shown great initiative to be a resource to our patients and her coworkers. Her nominators shared, “Deb has cross-trained so she can help in other areas of our department if needed. She has been a wonderful addition to our team.”
Colleen Losey of Waverly, pharmacy, was recognized for the value of leadership. Colleen has been a leader in the development of WHC’s Antibiotic Stewardship Program. Her nominator stated, “Colleen is constantly collecting data, working on new treatment protocols, educating staff, and working with the committee to make sure everyone at WHC is using antibiotics appropriately. This is such a critical area of healthcare and her expertise is of great value!”
Dr. John Ebensberger of Greene, emergency department, received WHC’s Quarterly Provider Spotlight on Values Award. Dr. Ebensberger was nominated by two different patients for the care he gave their children. One of his nominator stated, “When my son was in his accident, it was the scariest time I had ever encountered. Dr. E and the staff at WHC were phenomenal.”
WHC has adopted six values which include compassion, enthusiasm, excellence, innovation, integrity and leadership. The Spotlight on Values program recognizes WHC employees, volunteers and physicians for demonstrating these values. Patients, visitors and employees are encouraged to submit nominations for the WHC Spotlight on Values honors. Nominations can be submitted online or at any Spotlight on Values ballot boxes placed throughout the health center.
