312 9th St SW Waverly Iowa 50677-2929The purpose of this training is to educate clinical staff and the community about opioid usage, the dangers of overdose and methods for reducing harm. Those who attend the training in full will receive 1.5 CEHs/nursing contact hours.
At the conclusion of the training, participants will be able to:
Taught by Teresa King, BSW, CPS. Teresa King is a Prevention Supervisor and Certified Prevention Specialist with Pathways Behavioral Services. Through the State Opioid Response + Methamphetamine Project, she provides presentations throughout Black Hawk, Bremer, Buchanan, Butler, Chickasaw and Grundy counties. Her current areas of focus and passions include overdose prevention, naloxone administration and distribution, stigma associated with substance use disorder, addiction, substances of abuse and trends, and drug endangered children (DEC) prevention. While Teresa focuses on key audiences through her prevention efforts, she believes we all have a part in addressing substance use and DEC efforts in Iowa. She is impassioned to empower individuals with the knowledge, tools and resources needed to prevent and combat the effects substance use can have on individuals, families and communities.
Credit: Attendance at the entire program is required to receive CE credit.
Target audience: Certified medical assistants, emergency medical staff, licensed practical nurses, registered nurses, advanced registered nurse practitioners, providers, respiratory therapists.
Guests may park in the red lot and use the Tendrils Event Entrance near the pharmacy drive-up window. Take the elevator to the fourth floor.
