Spotlight on Values Winners

Six members of the Waverly Health Center (WHC) team have been named January/February Spotlight on Values award winners. Nominated by co-workers, patients and members of the community, these individuals are examples of WHC’s values in action.

Nikki White and Kerigan Kammeyer, both of Waterloo, are ambulance paramedics who were recognized for the value of compassion. Their nominator said, “I received a phone call from a patient who wanted to thank all the ambulance department for coming and helping him so often. However, he wanted to specifically thank Nikki and Kerigan for going above and beyond to help him. This patient frequently falls and called because he fell at the grocery store. Not only did Nikki and Kerigan help this gentleman up at the store, they helped him with his groceries at the store and getting home. Caring for people is expected, what Nikki and Kerigan did is beyond expected. They truly showed what it means to have compassion.”

Sam Reding, of Waterloo, is an information technology technician who was recognized for the value of enthusiasm. His nominator wrote, “He is always willing to help me out, nearly at a drop of a hat. If he doesn't know the answer, he is more than willing to find someone who can answer the questions or need you've got. Whenever I see Sam, he always has a smile on his face and is caring and professional.”

Billie Claude, of Cedar Falls, is a sterile processing technician in the surgery complex. She was recognized for the value of excellence. “When our department had utility issues, Billie worked through that challenge by prioritizing the tasks that needed to be done. She worked with the other staff that stayed late to get the surgical instruments washed,” her nominator wrote.

Bill Wallin, of Clarksville, is an information technology systems and database administrator. He was recognized for the value of innovation. His nominator wrote, “Bill has gone above and beyond to help expand the capabilities of the hospital’s infrastructure. Bill has worked every holiday with an excellent attitude and insight.”

Jennifer Holthaus, of Waverly, is an admissions representative and was recognized for the value of integrity. Her nominator wrote, “Jennifer is everything this word embodies. She is dedicated to doing a good job, honest with all coworkers and patients, respectful to everyone and accountable beyond measure. Jennifer is always willing to step up and put in high quality work. Jennifer is very reliable and very flexible with picking up hours and shifts that are available. I enjoy working with Jennifer every chance that I get and would like to thank her for being so dedicated to our admissions team!”

WHC has adopted six values which include compassion, enthusiasm, excellence, innovation, integrity and leadership. The Spotlight on Values program recognizes WHC employees, volunteers and physicians for demonstrating these values. Patients, visitors and employees are encouraged to submit nominations for the WHC Spotlight on Values honors. Nominations can be submitted at any Spotlight on Values ballot boxes placed throughout the health center.
