Six members of the Waverly Health Center (WHC) team have been named the November and December Spotlight on Values award winners. Nominated by co-workers, patients and members of the community, these individuals are examples of WHC’s values in action.
Lisa Barker of Allison, ambulance, was recognized for the value of compassion. Her nominator wrote, “My 5-year-old broke her arm at school, and we went to the ER and met Lisa. She was a true blessing and sat beside my daughter the whole time. For our first ER experience with a child, it was wonderful and can’t think Lisa enough for her care!”
Shelley Pahnisch of Nashua, Shell Rock Clinic, was recognized for the value of enthusiasm. Her nominator wrote, “Shelley is an excellent example of enthusiasm. When patients come into Shell Rock Clinic they are greeted with a welcoming hello and a big smile. She is a team player and eager to help anyone out. Shelley is a great asset to the Shell Rock Clinic and we are thrilled to have her!”
Sam Davis of Waverly, birthing center, was recognized for the value of excellence. Her nominator stated, “Sam is the nurse you want by your side-whether you are a colleague or a patient. Sam’s knowledge and skill set across all departments coupled with her calm, kind demeanor makes her an invaluable resource to our patients and our organization.”
Jenni Swart of Dumont, outpatient medical services, was recognized for the value of integrity. Her nominator said, “I nominate Jenni Swart for exemplifying excellence when providing care for a patient we recently had in our department. Thank you, Jenni, for being bold, persistent and truly caring with each patient that you see! You are an amazing asset to our healthcare team and exemplify what it means to provide high quality, person-centered health care!”
Bonnie Corkery of Fairbank, education, was recognized for the value of leadership. Her nominator wrote, “I nominate my colleague, Bonnie Corkery for the pillar of excellence. Excellence in the face of change and transition. Excellence in the start of a huge project. Excellence in follow up and follow through. Excellence with continuing to orient medical surgical staff, take on I.T. education roles, supervising a great team, and dotting the i's and crossing the t's with Skills Fair and so many more additional responsibilities in her role.”
Dr. Stephen Styron of Waverly received WHC’s Quarterly Provider Spotlight on Values Award. His nominator wrote, “Dr. Styron's calm demeanor with his patients and staff while providing excellent care does not go unnoticed. Dr. Styron is an excellent provider who has brought many babies into this world and has saved several lives over his many years of service.”
WHC has adopted six values which include compassion, enthusiasm, excellence, innovation, integrity and leadership. The Spotlight on Values program recognizes WHC employees, volunteers and physicians for demonstrating these values. Patients, visitors and employees are encouraged to submit nominations for the WHC Spotlight on Values honors. Nominations can be submitted at any Spotlight on Values ballot boxes placed throughout the health center.
