After beating cancer, twice, David Prentice is no stranger to hospitals and doctors. When he and his wife Deb moved to Waverly from Salem, Oregon in 2007, they expected their health care experience would be different. They were used to large facilities with integrated medical records and world-renowned specialists. With David’s health history, they needed a top-notch primary care provider.
David chose Dr. Clay Dahlquist in the Christophel Clinic. “From the start, I really appreciated how much time Dr. Dahlquist spent with me – getting familiar with my condition and staying up with the latest research,” commented David. When Dr. Dahlquist transitioned into the hospitalist role and out of the clinic, David admitted he was apprehensive with choosing a new doctor. David decided to trust Dr. Renu Bansal with managing his health issues. “She is a gem, and is really pretty similar to Dr. Dahlquist (aside from being a female and a bit shorter). She is incredibly competent and capable. My oncologist trusts her to review some of my labs, saving us trips up to Rochester. During my last appointment with her, I had five questions – they were all unrelated, but she didn’t rush me. She didn’t tell me to make a different appointment for each issue and gave each question thorough answers. She impresses me, and that says a lot since I’ve seen my fair share of doctors.”
Deb continued, “We’ve just always been really impressed with this hospital. We’ve had experiences in multiple departments. This community is so fortunate for all of the offerings at Waverly Health Center.”
Now retired, he and Deb enjoy travelling, spending time with family, cooking and hosting Wartburg international students.
