As a husband, father, grandfather and business owner, Len Jentz says he has a lot to live for. Heart disease has been front-of-mind for Len since he sadly lost his father due to a heart attack. This life event has caused Len to pay even more attention to how he feels physically.
A year ago, Len was opening his store in Waverly with an uncomfortable feeling in his chest. He decided to take the time to visit Waverly Health Center’s Walk-In Clinic just to be checked out. Len wasn’t in pain, but as soon as the nurse took his blood pressure, Len was escorted to the ER. In the ER, an EKG confirmed that Len was having a heart attack. WHC’s ambulance team took Len to Allen Hospital where he was immediately brought back to surgery to have two stents put in. “I can’t say enough good things about the staff at the hospital – everyone from the Walk-in Clinic to the ER to the Ambulance crew. They all took great care of me that day,” commented Len.
After Len got out of the hospital, he chose to do his cardiac rehab at WHC. “I was as weak as a kitten when I started rehab, and without it, I don’t think I would have felt comfortable enough to push myself to get stronger. Having the nurses monitor me alleviated my fears and I felt very safe in that environment.”
After a few sessions, Len was able to return to work and is now doing well. “Through the help of WHC, I’m back living my life,” finished Len.
