Most people wouldn’t consider an unexpected visit to the emergency room to be a pleasant experience, but Phil Jones of Waverly found that it was. After being in a car accident on a gravel road, he needed to go to Waverly Health Center (WHC) to make sure he didn’t have any serious injuries.
“I didn’t think I needed an ambulance after the accident so I called my wife Erin to come and pick me up,” Phil explained. “When I arrived, Annette at the registration desk quickly worked to get me registered. In a matter of minutes, I was escorted back to a room.”
While he was in the emergency room, Phil was assessed by Dr. Todd Shover. “Dr. Todd gave me a very thorough exam. He asked me about a lump and bruise on my leg and decided I needed to have it checked out. I also had some pain from the seat belt so a few additional tests were ordered to make sure my injuries weren’t more serious than they appeared.”
The radiology team at WHC worked to make sure Phil was comfortable during the testing process. “The staff was very professional and worked quickly, but also carefully so I didn’t have more pain. Nichole did my CT scan and she was great at explaining the steps in the process and what was happening.”
He continued, “I was impressed with how efficient and well the staff worked together. It seemed like I was in and out in no time. I’ve been familiar with the hospital since we moved to Waverly so I had an idea of what to expect, but my experience was even better.”
“Overall, the experience was very comforting. They were great at taking my mind off of the scary situation I’d just experienced. The little things they did may seem small, but they all meant a lot when I was the one in the bed.”
