“And another time…” became a recurrent phrase as Reid Koenig recounted his family’s experiences with Waverly Health Center (WHC). When asked how long he had been using services at WHC, he answered, “Well, we moved to Waverly in 1983, so since 1983.”
Reid, retired CUNA Mutual Group VP of Customer Service and his wife Marsha, retired Waverly-Shell Rock school teacher, have valued the ease and quality of care WHC has offered their family the past 34 years. Whether it was a routine well-child exam for one of their three daughters, or a wound that needed immediate care at the Walk-In Clinic, the Koenig’s have been very satisfied with WHC’s patient-centered health care approach. “The staff is professional and they take time for you. I don’t feel rushed or like I’m being pushed out the door. It creates a chance for us to get to know our doctors,” said Reid.
“There’s also comfort knowing WHC is right here. On my way to work one day, I was not feeling very well. I got to the end of 12thStreet and Bremer Avenue and thought, a right will take me to work, and a left will take me to the hospital. I took a left and found out I needed an appendectomy. I didn’t have to drive 20 or 30 miles away – just blocks.”
Reid credits some advice from his doctors that allow him to pursue his active lifestyle. “They are very good at providing practical advice. They gave me some things to think about changing that were simple to understand and practical to implement. I’ve made little changes like cutting back on soda, sweets and establishing a daily schedule to do some light exercise.” By making these changes, Reid’s been enjoying his retirement by travelling, golfing, riding his Harley and spending time with his family.
