Five members of the Waverly Health Center (WHC) team have been named the July and August Spotlight on Values award winners. Nominated by co-workers, patients and members of the community, these individuals are examples of WHC’s values in action.
Cori Westergreen of Waverly, medical-surgical, was recognized for the value of compassion. Her nominator wrote, “Cori showed compassion when she took care of one of my family members recently on med-surg. She was willing and helpful to dry and straighten her hair. Taking this extra time to make her patient look and feel more like herself when she wasn’t feeling well made a big impact on the patient.”
Judy Lee of Plainfield, admissions, was recognized for the value of enthusiasm. Her nominator wrote, “Judy does a great job starting each day with a smile. She is easy to get along with and makes work easier and funnier. She is eager to learn and is always enthusiastic about her job and the people she gets to meet each day.”
Kris Weber of Cedar Falls, Women’s Clinic, was recognized for the value of excellence. Her nominator stated, “When I think of excellence in behavioral health nursing, I think of Kris. She blends compassion with practicality, is an astute clinician and is calm in a storm. She is especially skilled at advocating for patients’ needs with insurance companies. Kris is diplomatic in frustrating situations, and she is tenacious.”
Chuck Konig of Allison, nutrition services, was recognized for the value of innovation. His nominator said, “Chuck takes initiative in creating delicious “made from scratch” items in the WHC kitchen. He takes great pride in preparing quality, eye-pleasing entrees and desserts that entice staff. By sharing his talent with us all in this special way, Chuck has brightened our days through the dining room. Whether you’re having a good day or a bad day, it’s always a “treat” to see what Chuck has in store!”
Courtney Buss of Readlyn, clinic billing office, was recognized for the value of integrity. Her nominator wrote, “I am amazed every day when Courtney handles phone calls from patients and insurance companies with consistency and professionalism. She is honest, explains precisely and does not get flustered. The way she can be so confident with her knowledge is truly amazing. Courtney is honest and shows integrity, especially when handling difficult phone calls.”
WHC has adopted six values which include compassion, enthusiasm, excellence, innovation, integrity and leadership. The Spotlight on Values program recognizes WHC employees, volunteers and physicians for demonstrating these values. Patients, visitors and employees are encouraged to submit nominations for the WHC Spotlight on Values honors. Nominations can be submitted at any Spotlight on Values ballot boxes placed throughout the health center, or by clicking here.
